The Call of God to Be a Pastor
10 am - 12 pm

nicasio_1634879_1280.jpg The call of God to labor in full-time ministry, specifically as a pastor, is a high and noble calling. But how does a young man know if he is called to the ministry? How should parents help their sons navigate through this important life decision? These and other questions will be explored from Scripture with practical applications. Afterwards, we will have a time of prayer together as we seek the Lord, that He would even call some of the young men of our church to pastor. Men and boys of all ages are invited to join us for this special time of teaching and prayer. Nursery will not be provided for this event.

Topics will include an overview of the Bible's significance and how to read and understand various genres in the Bible (i.e. law, poetry, narrative, psalms, proverbs, gospels, and prophecy). A textbook will be available as an optional additional study tool, and weekly Bible study assignments will be given. The friends we choose determine the kind of woman you will be. So, it is crucial that you choose friends carefully. But just as important as the friends we choose is how we relate to others in our friendships. We invite you to join us for this year's Ladies Conference at Faith Baptist Church as we learn biblical principles about how to be the right kind of friend. We look forward to this special time of focus and fellowship together!

WORKSHOPS

Personal Accountability (A) - Chantal Nelson

God wants us to enjoy the same love and unity He enjoys within the Godhead. This workshop and panel discussion will examine Scripture to learn about this wonderful Christian unity, that strengthens our personal relationship with the Lord.

Intercessory Prayer (B) - Nickie McLeod

What is intercessory prayer? Who should pray, and why? We will consider these and many other questions, focusing on the blessed privilege of every Christian, the ability to communicate with our sovereign God!

Principles of Biblical Counsel (C) - Sarah Overmiller

The Bible says a lot about who should give counsel and how to give it. We will consider biblical principles for offering godly counsel, avoiding the pitfalls of worldly wisdom and philosophy.

Killing Gossip (D) - Leslie Hollandsworth

Since women are willing to make themselves vulnerable to one another, they have more to spill. But we need to learn to be trustworthy in our confidences and set a guard over our mouths. The root of gossip is not harmless, rather poison to our souls.

Handling Peer Pressure (E) - Miriam Castillo

What is peer pressure? Is it good or bad? Discover what the Bible teaches about a matter that affects the choices you make in life.

Leslie_3.jpgguest speaker

I was born and raised in Wayne, New Jersey by Christian parents who adopted me right after I was born. At age 8, after hearing the Gospel over the years, I accepted Jesus as my Savior. My husband, Jim and I met at college, and were married shortly after graduation. The Lord blessed us with seven children in ten years! Jim was in the finance world before the Lord called him into the pastorate. We have been serving the Lord in pastoral ministry for the past twenty years and have seen God’s daily grace, wisdom and strength as we choose to follow His leading.
