Day of Prayer
8 am - 2 pm

samuel_martins_631378_unsplash.jpgPlan to gather for an extended time of prayer as a church, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The nursery will be open to mothers with nursery-age children, but staff will not be provided. Special Bible study, prayer and activity sessions will be provided for preschool and elementary children at times throughout the day, if there is enough interest. Teens and adults will participate in the primary prayer event.

Beverages and refreshments will not be available, as we will focus on worshipping the Lord throughout the day. Together, we will:

  • Worship the Lord through Scripture insights, testimonies and hymn singing
  • Prayers of thanksgiving and praise
  • Confessing our need for God through prayer
  • Casting our dependence on God for physical and spiritual needs of our congregation, from every stage of life
  • Interceding for those who need Christ, churches in the NYC area, and our missionaries abroad

Changed into His Image
12:45 pm - 2 pm

Website_Changed_Berg_no_text.png"But we all ... are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord." (2 Cor. 3:18)

Discipleship is more than just a buzzword. It’s every earnest Christian’s ambition, both for himself and for others. But where do you begin, and how do you proceed in the vital process of Christian growth? And especially, how do you overcome deeply ingrained habits that seem to stifle any spiritual progress? Changed Into His Image is a chart and compass that will heartily encourage Christians with its effectiveness, and pleasantly surprise them with its simplicity. Dealing with such topics as learning to exercise self-restraint, recognizing reality, walking in wisdom, and setting a godly example, Changed Into His Image has been the key for thousands of believers to unlock the mysteries of overcoming and fruitful living.

Join us on Sunday afternoons this Spring as we focus on these important truths of Christian growth. Men, ladies, and high school teens are encouraged to participate. We will begin in the auditorium by watching a teaching video that summarizes the key points of each chapter. Then men and ladies will split into groups for discussion and prayer. This Fall, we are excited to introduce our ProTeens ministry for teens in 7th-9th grade. This Sunday afternoon Bible study will focus on many topics relevant to Christian young people. We will emphasize the importance of a close walk with God, a healthy relationship to parents, and involvement in the local church.

All teens involved in this time should bring their Bible study booklet so they can follow along during the lesson and discussion time. In addition, all teens should plan to use their devotional journals and personal Bible study booklets (Milk, Meat, Bread, Fish) throughout the week. If teens need any of these materials, please contact Brother Christian Acosta.

Missionary Presentation: Sehesteds
12:45 pm - 1:15 pm

Dan_and_Lynette_Sehested.jpgDan and Lyn Sehested will be giving our church an update on their ministry in Romania via Skype call. Join us this Sunday afternoon as we hear more about what God is doing in this part of the world.

The Sehesteds began serving the Lord in Romania in 1993 through Baptist World Mission. The first 8 1/2 years they were located in Slatina, in the south central region of the country. Together, with coworkers, they started a church. In 2002, they moved to Lugoj, in the southwestern region, to help in a college. While in the process of moving they met Alin Manciu who was planting a church in the village of Stiuca, just outside of Lugoj. They worked with the Mancius for the next six years in the establishment of Hope Independent Baptist Church. In 2007, the Lord clearly led the Sehesteds to move again. This time, they moved to Beius, in the northwest region of Romania. They were both involved in the Independent Baptist Assembly of Beius and both were teaching in a Bible college. In the fall of 2009, the Sehested family moved to Hunedoara to help Mihai and Maria Czentye plant a new independent Baptist church. Currently, the Sehesteds are planning to establish themselves in Hunedoara for the rest of their lives, reaching out to a county of 420,000 lost souls.

10 am - 11:30 am

Ben_and_Andrea_Hamilton.jpgBen and Andrea Hamilton will join us this Sunday to give us an update on their ministry in the Bronx. Pastor Hamilton will also preach a Bible message in the morning service. We look forward to the Hamilton's ministry with us.

We are Ben and Andrea Hamilton, missionary church-planters to the Bronx in New York City. We have five children–Elaine, Nolan, Liberty, Nehemiah and Henry. We have been a part of Baptist World Mission since October 2013. Our goal is to establish an independent Baptist church in the Kingsbridge neighborhood of the Bronx. We have the opportunity to reach all nations of the world from one location. Our desire is to reach foreign cultures by seeing souls saved in NYC and then encouraging them to return to their native country with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You can find out more information about our family and ministry at www.modernnineveh.com. We also have a goal to have a self-supporting, indigenous church in that neighborhood within five years of initially getting started. We desire to minister on the college campuses nearby and to the largely Hispanic population of the Bronx through a Spanish-speaking ministry at our church.

Missionary Presentation: Risinger

Risinger_website_pic.PNGJoe and Lindsay will share an update of their deputation and language training this Sunday during the afternoon service. We will communicate with them via Skype call. Join us at 12:45 pm as we hear from the Risingers before they head to the field in Uganda.

The Risingers grew up in the same church in South Bend, IN. As young people, they surrendered their lives to the Lord for full-time Christian service. After Joe received a Bachelor's Degree in accounting, he had the opportunity to take a missions trip to Africa in 2014. By this time, the Lord began to confirm Joe's calling to Africa as a missionary. In 2015, Joe and Lindsay were married, and together they have been on several missions trips to Uganda. Currently, they are on deputation raising support for their ministry in Africa. For more information about their burden for Uganda, click here.

8d3b9565371d3650d2a7d25fea2cf748.jpgPaul had the privilege of growing up in Peru and seeing the joy of serving in missions from an early age. At age four, Paul recognized his sin before a holy God and need for a personal Savior. Paul’s mom shared with him the Gospel, and he placed his trust in Christ alone. Paul took four missions trips during his high school years, one of which went to Salt Lake City, UT. While there, the Lord impressed upon him the need for more Gospel-centered churches in the Salt Lake Valley. Paul attended Northland International University and majored in Pastoral Studies.

Laura grew up in New York City as a pastor’s daughter. Laura realized her need for salvation at the age of four. She trusted in Christ as the One who had taken sins penalty upon Himself on her behalf. Laura is so thankful for God’s grace in her life, and she recognizes the joy of sharing that Gospel with others. Laura studied both Bible and History Education at Northland International University in Dunbar, Wisconsin. Paul and Laura met while studying at college and were married on May 16, 2009. Reagan Marie, was born on February 14, 2012, Logan Timothy, was born on December 11, 2013, and Brooklyn Leah, was born on March 31, 2016.
