Day of Prayer
9 am - 12 pm

samuel_martins_631378_unsplash.jpgPlan to gather for an extended time of prayer as a church, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. We will meet together at Bethel Baptist Fellowship in Brooklyn. This church will join us for the time of prayer.

The nursery will be open to mothers with nursery-age children, but staff will not be provided. Special Bible study, prayer and activity sessions will be provided for preschool and elementary children at times throughout the day, if there is enough interest. Teens and adults will participate in the primary prayer event.

Beverages and refreshments will not be available, as we will focus on worshipping the Lord throughout the day. Together, we will:

  • Worship the Lord through Scripture insights, testimonies and hymn singing
  • Prayers of thanksgiving and praise
  • Confessing our need for God through prayer
  • Casting our dependence on God for physical and spiritual needs of our congregation, from every stage of life
  • Interceding for those who need Christ, churches in the NYC area, and our missionaries abroad
  • Seeking the Lord for spiritual awakening and ministry effectiveness

Website_Changed_Berg_no_text.png"But we all ... are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord." (2 Cor. 3:18)

Discipleship is more than just a buzzword. It’s every earnest Christian’s ambition, both for himself and for others. But where do you begin, and how do you proceed in the vital process of Christian growth? And especially, how do you overcome deeply ingrained habits that seem to stifle any spiritual progress? Changed Into His Image is a chart and compass that will heartily encourage Christians with its effectiveness, and pleasantly surprise them with its simplicity. Dealing with such topics as learning to exercise self-restraint, recognizing reality, walking in wisdom, and setting a godly example, Changed Into His Image has been the key for thousands of believers to unlock the mysteries of overcoming and fruitful living.

Join us on Sunday afternoons this Spring as we focus on these important truths of Christian growth. Men, ladies, and high school teens are encouraged to participate. We will begin in the auditorium by watching a teaching video that summarizes the key points of each chapter. Then men and ladies will split into groups for discussion and prayer. This Fall, we are excited to introduce our ProTeens ministry for teens in 7th-9th grade. This Sunday afternoon Bible study will focus on many topics relevant to Christian young people. We will emphasize the importance of a close walk with God, a healthy relationship to parents, and involvement in the local church.

All teens involved in this time should bring their Bible study booklet so they can follow along during the lesson and discussion time. In addition, all teens should plan to use their devotional journals and personal Bible study booklets (Milk, Meat, Bread, Fish) throughout the week. If teens need any of these materials, please contact Brother Christian Acosta.

We have confirmed field reservations at Hinton Park (Corona) for a terrific day of inter-church softball and fellowship this Spring.

This location features two turf softball fields near the 7-train 111th stop and right off the Grand Central Parkway. The park also features a volleyball court, outdoor exercise equipment, seating areas, and a playground for children.

The day's schedule will entail playing several games in a rotation, two games at a time. We will also organize a carry-in picnic lunch and a final championship and consolation game. If you are unable to field a full team, please contact Pastor Thomas Overmiller and we may be able to add your players to another team.

Tentative Schedule

  • 8:00 - Team A vs. Team B / Team C vs. Team D
  • 9:15 - Team E vs. Team F / Team G vs. Team H
  • 10:30 - Winner vs. Loser / Winner vs. Loser
  • 11:45 - Winner vs. Loser / Winner vs. Loser
  • 1:00 - Lunch
  • 2:00 - Championship Game / Consolation Game

First games will be determined by a raffle prior to the event. Championship and consolation match seedings will be determined as follows:

  1. Best W/L record
  2. First tie-breaker will be total runs allowed
  3. Second tie-breaker will be total hits
  4. Third tie-breaker will be total runs scored

To know whether you will be playing your first game at 8:00 or 9:15, look for an announcement by email closer to the day.

Tournament Rules

  1. Each game will be officiated by an umpire.
  2. The maximum time for a game will be 1 hour or 5 innings.
  3. To ensure efficient use of time, every batter will begin with a 1-1 count.
  4. We will observe a 10-run rule, 3-inning mercy rule. The game will end after 3 innings if a team leads by ten runs or more.
  5. Players must be 9 years or older.
