PROTEENS_LOGO.jpg"Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12

This Fall, we are excited to introduce our ProTeens ministry for teens in 7th-12th grade. This Sunday afternoon Bible study will focus on many topics relevant to Christian young people. We will emphasize the importance of a close walk with God, a healthy relationship to parents, and involvement in the local church.

We are thrilled to provide Bible study materials so teens can follow along during the lesson and discussion time every Sunday. In addition, we provide devotional journals and personal Bible study booklets (Milk, Meat, Bread, Fish) for teens to use throughout the week. Any teens who need these materials should contact Brother Christian Acosta.

Kids for Truth

9780310811978_ingram.jpgAs they stood at the foot of Mount Sinai, the Israelites not only agreed to partner with God by worshipping him as king, they also took on a mission: become a kingdom of priests in a prodigal world. This had been God's plan for his people from the time he called Abraham out of Ur, a mission that would forever characterize Abraham's descendants and one which Jesus would renew with his own ministry. Follow the rabbi through Israel and Jordan, scaling mountains in the Sinai and exploring the ancient cities of the Decapolis as you unpack what it means to be a kingdom of priests today.

How has God called his people to live in the world but not of it?

This study series, which explores the Bible in its historical context, corresponds to the current Sunday morning preaching series, Discovering the Old Testament, and features:

  • Engaging videos filmed in key on-site locations
  • Large group discussions
  • Small group application

The study occurs in the auditorium for men, women, and teens. Study guide books (with weekly and daily personal study options) are available for purchase at $8 each.

Session titles include:

  1. Abraham and Sarah and Three Strangers (Negev, Israel)
  2. Israel at Sinai: The First Great Commission (Timnah, Israel)
  3. Jesus Renews the Mission: Seeking the Lost (Qatzrin, Israel)
  4. The Lost Son: In a Far Country (Jerash, Jordan)
  5. The Seeking Father: The Lost Son Returns (Qatzrin, Israel)

Day of Prayer
8 am - 2 pm

samuel_martins_631378_unsplash.jpgPlan to gather for an extended time of prayer as a church, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The nursery will be open to mothers with nursery-age children, but staff will not be provided. Special Bible study, prayer and activity sessions will be provided for preschool and elementary children at times throughout the day, if there is enough interest. Teens and adults will participate in the primary prayer event.

Beverages and refreshments will not be available, as we will focus on worshipping the Lord throughout the day. Together, we will:

  • Worship the Lord through Scripture insights, testimonies and hymn singing
  • Prayers of thanksgiving and praise
  • Confessing our need for God through prayer
  • Casting our dependence on God for physical and spiritual needs of our congregation, from every stage of life
  • Interceding for those who need Christ, churches in the NYC area, and our missionaries abroad
  • Seeking the Lord for spiritual awakening and ministry effectiveness
  • Hear special music from Doug and Donna Lowery

After graduating from Bible college, Doug and Donna Lowery recognized the need for a vibrant, Bible-believing church in the Queens Borough. Believing that God would open doors of opportunity, the Lowery family moved to Corona to reach out to engage in gospel outreach and train new believers. The church chartered in September 1975 and incorporated in February 1976 as Faith Baptist Church, meeting first in the basement of the Lowery home.

In 1979, my wife Martha and I joined ABWE as church planters to Togo, West Africa.  There we served for three terms, while “conquering” the languages of French and Ewe and raising our three children.  The Lord graciously used us to see three independent Baptist churches established in Togo.  We were also involved in large measure with the construction and operation of a 25-bed medical-surgical hospital in the country.  This fruitful ministry was also greatly used in the establishment of a number of Baptist churches—for God’s glory.  We resigned from ABWE in 1995 and joined the BWM family in 1997, as Furlough Replacement Church Planters, a ministry we are privileged to continue today.  Since 2002, we have also served as Field Administrator for Africa, adding in 2012 the UK, Ireland, the Middle East and the other FRCP’s.  We count it a joy to serve the servants of Christ around the BWM world!  The Lord wonderfully equipped us to minister to missionaries “right where they live” by giving to us that field experience beforehand.
